STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Corbin

Hello world! My name is Emily and I am starting my sophomore year at Syracuse University. As an undecided major in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my confusing life because I have so many passions. The one thing confusion calls for is a killer wardrobe.

Finishing my freshman year, I realized two things—I love coffee and have a passion for fashion. The city of Syracuse has allowed me to explore my fashion sense more than ever. Of course, we have one of largest malls in the world, but we are also lucky to have local thrift shops and unique boutiques.

With the below zero temperatures at Syracuse University, there is no doubt that you will find me walking around campus in an oversized sweater. I tend to snag my dad’s sweaters when he isn’t looking to get that relaxed yet stylish look. When he realizes that all his sweaters are missing, I turn to thrift stores. There is always a hidden gem at the end of the clothing rack or bottom of a box—you never know what you are going to find thrifting. As for my personal style, I really try to incorporate as much as I can into my everyday outfits because more is always better. A few of my favorite stores include ASOS, Topshop, Forever 21 and, of course, thrift stores.

The outfit I am rocking here is perfect for a day in the city or heading to class. It’s casual, but edgy. A patterned T-shirt dress is a wardrobe staple. Pair this with some bold jewels, sunnies and sneakers and you are ready to hit the streets.

Here’s to a exploring, and I can’t wait for you to experience my journey Fashionistas/os!
