ALL IN THE DETAILS: Precious Metals

Though we’re in the dead of winter, students in Louisiana have been experiencing some crazy temperatures. It’s like we’re in Antarctica in the morning and Miami Beach by 12 p.m.. This fickle weather presents the super fun challenge of finding an outfit that you won’t get frostbite in on the way to your 7 a.m. class that will also prevent pit stains in the afternoon. (I’ll let you know if I ever figure it out). But those lucky enough to just have afternoon class are free to ditch the winter layers altogether and throw on whatever is casual and comfortable. But just because you’re rocking a basic look doesn’t mean you have to look basic.

This Fashionista keeps cool in a pair of vintage Levi’s, a basic black crop top, and strappy platform flats. Her heart shaped sunglasses add a fun, unexpected quirk. But a closer look reveals that her jewelry takes the outfit from zero to 100. The girl is basically dripping in metallics, decked out literally head-to-toe in all kinds of earrings, rings, and bracelets. She’s arranged them all very creatively, making the whole look much more personalized. The way she chose to rock not one but two different statement earrings on one ear is initially what caught my eye. This Fashionista says jewelry has always been her favorite way to express her style and that each piece has some kind of story behind it. For example, the gold ring on her right pointer finger is from Saudi Arabia and was given to her by her Arabian grandmother.

This outfit is a great approach to dressing comfortably without sacrificing personal style. Whether it’s intimate jewelry, patches, or pins, small personalized details are a creative way to express yourself whilst keeping it casual.
