While we would normally agree with Miranda Priestly on that one, these florals are groundbreaking, and they are set to be one of the biggest trends for this spring and summer!
Beginning in 2022, celebrities and influencers alike have been spotted sporting these 3D flower details to add a little warmth to the winter months. One star who is fully embracing this trend is Hailey Bieber, model and founder of Rhode Skin. In January, she posted a short TikTok video of her rocking a sheer black mini dress with ruffles and rosette detailing on the shoulder and hip bone from the brand, Fancí Club. This is a style we are starting to see everywhere as the sheer, lightweight material and unique details make it fun and perfect for the warmer months ahead.
However, this was not the only time we have seen rosettes from Hailey. Just a few weeks ago, she posted an Instagram dump featuring a hot pink, halter maxi dress with two large rosettes at the top of the hip slit. Back in November of 2021, she shared a picture with the caption, “loves a wedding,” where she is featured wearing a long, brown sequin, spaghetti strap dress with a rosette on each breast. Finally, at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party in 2022, Bieber was photographed wearing a beautiful nude, long sleeve, cutout gown from Saint Laurent with a large rosette in the center.
While it is clear Hailey approves of the rosette trend, she is not the only famous name to take part in it. Recently, this has been a red carpet go-to. While attending the LACMA Art + Film Gala in November 2022, Sydeny Sweeney wore a pale pink mini dress with a plunging neckline, pleated skirt, and voluminous sleeves covered in rosettes. At the Brit Awards this past February, Harry Styles walked the red carpet in a beautifully-tailored black suit with a very large rosette choker around his neck. At the 2023 Golden Globe Awards, stars were loving this trend to say the least. Jenny Slate, Eddie Redmayne, and Sigourney Weaver, to name a few, were all seen proudly wearing rosettes.
Not only are we seeing this on the red carpet runways, but the Fashion Week runways and streets were full of flowers, as well. Fashion models, editors, designers, bloggers, and more were taking part in this trend in some shape or form. Olivia Marcus, fashion and lifestyle writer for Stylecaster, incorporated this trend into her fashion week wardrobe through this beautiful rosette bag.
Influencer, Bridgette Pheloung of Acquired Style, like Hailey, is a proud supporter of this trend. Featured many times on her Instagram, she shows us how she is making this trend wearable as a swimsuit, a cover up, and a two piece set. It is fair to say this will not be the last time we see this trend on her feed, as rosettes are truly just getting started!
Growing in popularity with brands and retailers, now, is the time to start flower shopping before it sells out. Check out this College Fashionista round-up of the best rosette pieces currently on the market!
