ALL IN THE DETAILS: Café Americano

If I had to sum up “Classic American” style in just a few key pieces it would have to be Converse All-Stars, jeans, T-shirts, aviators and anything with a rock band logo on it. America is the land of casual comfort, and we tend to stick with our favorite staple pieces.

This stylish Fashionista knows all about American style. From her Chuck Taylor’s to her (homemade) jean shorts, she is U.S.A all the way. But it is the small, more modern, additions that she gave her outfit that give it that up-to-date, trendy feel. Her brow bar sunglasses are very current, and many celebs can be spotted sporting similar shades by designers such as Dior and Krewe. Her minimalistic and polished cross-body is no exception to her twenty first century take on American classics, too. The bag is a simple shape, and has refined black leather and polished gold hardware. Many styles of bags like this are super popular today, and this is yet another accessory that helps bring her girl-next-door look to the next level.

I love that she picked very monochromatic pieces for the majority of her look like her gray shirt, black bag and gray and black tortoise sunnies, but she adds a bright pop of color with her bold red high tops. Most people tend to shy away from brightly colored shoes, but Converse offer a great opportunity to experiment with color without looking like a box of crayons.

How To: Often scared off from picking classic American pieces because you fear looking like a ’90s cliché? No worries. Take a super modern look that you would currently wear such as a crop top, flower headband and lace-up sandals and add in an American classic like overalls to give your look a vintage, all-American feel.
