As an avid follower of WhoWhatWear.com, I am always interested to see the comparison between what celebrities are wearing versus what our Fashionistas are donning. Last week there was a post about oversized layers and the practicality of this trend during winter. Our CollegeFashionista below emulated the oversized, layered scarf look as well, while she isn’t using her scarf to hide from the Papparazzi she definitely needs it keep her warm during those brisk walks to class.
Hint: Gilt.com is always having a sale on amazing cashmere scarfs for a huge discount. If your not a member already, I’d highly recommend joining!

Last week I advised you all about my love for nautical stripes as seen on this Fashionista. But I forgot to mention that this trend looks equally as sharp on males as well. The tasteful Fashionisto below paired his horizontal stripes with a classic black blazer. By now, I am assuming if you’re a male reader and you slightly love fashion, that you own a blazer. So this look turns super easy for anyone to copy. Grab your go to blazer, purchase a horizontal stripe top, thrown on your fav sneakers and wahlah!

I’m all about the ruffles this season and have seen this look reappearing on my fellow Gurus campuses. The thing about ruffles is you have to play this look just right… I have a red ruffle collar vintage shirt that makes my face disappear in the madness of all the material. The Fashionista below uses an minimal accent of ruffles on her dress, incorporating this Victorian trend but not letting it take over her entire outfit. Nicely done. I’ve been crushing over this mesh ruffle zip back top from Urban Outfitters that incorporates two of my favorite trends right now, sheer and ruffles. Definite must have…and it’s on sale

I found this pretty amazing photo on TopShop’s blog and like most ladies one of my favorite things in the world is Chanel. Yes, it’s not the most obtainable product for a college student but a girl can dream can’t she? Even if you can’t shell out a 1,000 plus dollars on a lambskin quilt bag you can still stay up to date with the exclusive life of Karl Lagerfeld and his fairytale Chanel world.

CollegeFashionista has teamed up with The Fashion Student Organization at Kent State University to co-host a fashion show in order to support Haiti relief. All proceeds from this event will be donated to UNICEF. Our hope is that this event will be our way of showing that college students are dedicated to this cause. The runway designs seen at this show will be based around traditional South American garments in their culture. The event dates are tentatively scheduled to be February 12th and February 13th and will be announced next week.
In order to prepare for the show, we have made CollegeFashionista Haiti relief shirts that will be auctioned off at the event for proceeds. In addition, we will be selling the shirts on our website for all of our readers to purchase.
If your in the area, definitely come out and attend the show. Our Kent State Gurus will be voting on the best look of the evening and we will post it for everyone to view on the site! For the rest of you, the shirts will be on the site soon for purchase. All t-shirt proceeds will be donated to the UNICEF Relief Program in Haiti.
