STYLE GURU STYLE: What Per(suede)s Me

Attention! The ’70s are back this fall, and you know what that means? Suede, suede and more suede!  Are we accepting of this, you ask? Absolutely!  I noticed this soft, chic material in Rebecca Minkoff’s spring 2016 resort collection, which I have fallen in love with entirely.  Suede is featured in look 16 in the form of a standout fringed T-shirt dress in baby blue.  Although this collections color palette is not exactly fitting for fall, I managed to put my own twist on Minkoff’s design.  I swapped the lighter colors out for darker ones and transformed the inspirational look from a warm to cold weather feel.

Whether you’re headed to the office, going out on a date or shopping on the weekend, suede is a wardrobe winner, and we’re seeing it everywhere at the moment.  Designers are including this multifaceted fabric in many fall and spring collections, making it one of the biggest current fashion trends.  The thing is, it’s more than just a fabric, right?  Suede has this marvelous ability to take us back decades like the glamorous ’70s and grunge ’90s.  It blends with any outfit, making it appear retro-sophisticated.  It makes a statement without being overwhelming.

I’m wearing a sleeveless mini shift dress in an olive suede.  I love to pair this texture with leather, which is why I incorporated my favorite black leather moto jacket into my ensemble.  Shoe-wise, I’m wearing taupe ankle boots.  To take my outfit to the next level, I added a silver statement necklace. Sometimes, something as simple as a bold necklace might be the only accessory needed for a suede dress and oh, also a handful of great rings!

I’ll say it again: The ’70s are back this fall and incorporating suede into your wardrobe would make Elvis proud.

Get My Look: 1. Suede dress. 2. Leather moto jacket. 3. Silver statement necklace.
