STYLE GURU STYLE: Subtly ’70s

The ’70s fashion, also known as the “me decade,” is one of the most iconic fashion eras to date. It was only a matter of time before it remade its grand debut. The ’70s trends hit the spring 2015 runway in subtle ways with color combination, denim and pant silhouettes. They were flat out gorgeous, but nothing compares to ’70s fall fashion! Fringe, mild earth tones, turtlenecks, peasant blouses and classic denim has had my heart since That ’70s Show. These details were created to flourish in an array of shades ranging from oak buff, cashmere rose and dried herb. Can you envision the earthy vibes?

I mentioned my love for fringe, but you have yet to get the gist of it. I’ve longed for a suede fringe jacket since Thelma and Louise (1991). Okay, that may be an exaggeration but I can’t deny the possibility. Once I laid eyes on Burberry Prorsum fall 2015 wanderlust and modest collection, I was in awe of the dramatic creations. I knew it wouldn’t be long before retailers were producing their own version of ‘70s most wanted suede, tassel and denim pieces.

The thing is, I become eager, so eager when I envision myself with this specific item that I begin to search high and low for it. Six months later, low and behold, Forever 21 releases three different affordable styles of genuine suede fringe jackets. I selected the style with a little more flare because in my opinion you can never go wrong with too much fringe!

Alas, it is fall yet the temperature fluctuates every other day. Nonetheless I braved the climate to strut my stuff in this stunning jacket. My tan is similar to the vibrant hue of oak buff. To break up the color contrast, I decided black would do this jacket justice. I selected a lightweight turtleneck, paired it with a cotton skater skirt and edgy ankle booties. To throw some color into the mix, I wore prune socks and a multi-colored textured clutch. Take trends with a grain of salt; they are meant to inspire you and aid in self-expression—always be yourself!
