STYLE GURU STYLE: Staples Are Stunning

As I previously stated in my STYLE GURU BIO, a good chunk of my clothing can very well be put under the category of bohemian. A lot of my recent obsessions regarding style have come from Urban Outfitters and Free People. I have been loving the bell sleeves and lace patterns that have been incorporated into a lot of their pieces, as well as the “flow” fitting style that the clothes provide. It’s not all about that tight and constricted look anymore!

When putting this specific look together, I got a lot of inspiration from the Joie spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. Joie takes a lot of simple, yet beautiful pieces and combines them to create elegant everyday looks. Neutral colors such as white and cream are big components here, but so are the use of popping florals and stripes. What caught my eye about this collection was the fact that many of the pieces look like different versions of staples many of us may already have in our closets. Joie really underlines how to re-invent these simple staple pieces into something stunning.

Also, I have to mention that I really love how so many of the looks in the collection are wearable. I know when we look at high fashion we sometimes tend to think, “What kind of occasion would I ever be able to wear that to?”

My goal was to imitate the clean and elegant look that the Joie collection displays while incorporating whites, lace, florals and patterns. My outfit includes a flowing lace top from a local boutique named Serendipity, a bronze necklace from Free People and a floral skirt and camel toned strappy sandals both from Forever 21.

Even though this Joie spring collection didn’t have jewelry incorporated, I felt that the addition of the necklace added necessary detail. Jewelry for me is always the icing on the cake.

Get My Look: 1. Get your hands on a neutral, loose-fitting lace or shear shirt that is great for layering. 2. Find a pair of floral or patterned bottoms (can be a pair of shorts, a skirt, or even pants, etc. 3. Strap on some black or camel colored sandals!
