STYLE GURU STYLE: Falling for the ’70s

Fall trends are all about the ’70s. The Jill Stuart fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection fit the bohemian and 1970s look perfectly. The collection included everything from suede and velvet to leather and knits. Jill Stuart modernized her fall collection by bringing an edgy twist to classic ’70s styled pieces. A-line pieces are paired with leather boxy jackets and oversized turtle necks were combined with skirts and flowy, floral dresses. Jill Stuart’s designs are sure to give you inspiration for all your trendy fall outfits.

The fall 2015 collection included a mix of feminine and masculine silhouettes. In the mix were flowy, draped dresses and sharp, straight jackets and pants. One look I particularly fell in love with was a black bell sleeve dress cinched at the waist with a thick, multi-colored snake skin belt, and to top off the look, a pair of snake skin ankle booties. The unique bell shaped sleeves of the dress gave inspiration to my look. Keeping the color palette light, I paired this perfect cream colored peasant top with light wash high-waisted jeans. The loose, peplum waistline and crochet detail on the sleeves of the peasant top give the overall look a bohemian vibe. I incorporated the popular suede material with a pair of trendy, heeled booties. To top off the look, I assesorized with bangles and large western inspired rings.

Peasant tops are perfect for staying on trend with the ’70s bohemian style. This look works well for looking chic while going from class to class or a simple Starbucks run with friends. When the weather gets a bit chilly on campus, a fur vest or suede jacket can be added to keep you warm while walking to classes.
