STYLE GURU STYLE: Back in Black

The morning can be a tough time, especially for us night owls, and that is why I like to pick out my outfit the night before. This not only gets me out the door in time for classes (because more than likely, I already snoozed my alarm clock multiple times), but it also gives me a chance to eat a quick breakfast or put a few curls in my hair. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely have those mornings where I frantically destroy my closet in search of something to wear. Picking out my clothes the night before makes my mornings a breeze, and most of all, I don’t come home to a bedroom where the floor is covered in clothes because I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to wear. Leave it to my indecisive self to try on several outfit combinations.

This outfit that I wore is one of my favorites because it is not only comfortable, but cute as well. I have a very simple style, and I like to wear pieces that have small details that make the outfit look like I put in more effort. Black is probably a color that I always gravitate toward because it goes with pretty much anything! For any jean wash, shoe color, etc., the color black will match. It may be a basic color, but is sure does look good. Basic tops are my favorite because they are easy to pair with a jacket that adds detail to my outfit.

The black top has cute lacing that adds detail to a very simple outfit. Since I wore black jeans as well, I wanted to pair it with a top that wasn’t as basic. The jean jacket added a pop of color (shoutout to my roommate for the awesome Goodwill find!), is extremely comfortable, and keeps me warm. I paired this outfit with my Adidas Superstar sneakers because it strayed away from the mainly dark colors that I wore, and they are perfect for all of the walking I do around campus. To top it off, I layered two necklaces to add more detail and color. I love accessories because, in my opinion, they bring an outfit together.

I have learned that there are ways to dress cute while being a sleep deprived college student, and that simple isn’t always boring! Small details can easily transform the simple everyday outfit you wear to class.
