STYLE GURU BIO: Shauna Ryan

Happy Spring everyone! My name is Shauna Ryan; I am currently a junior at SUNY Oneonta involved in the 3+1 program with the Fashion Institute of Technology. These past five semesters have been great, and I am hoping my last semester here will be just as exciting. I am currently playing the waiting game to hear back from FIT and I couldn’t be more eager. I have grown to realize I have made the right decision in studying fashion merchandising. I could not imagine studying anything else and I look forward to finishing out my studies and exploring new paths on my journey. This will be my third semester contributing to the CollegeFashionista world and I couldn’t be more excited to capture some great winter and spring looks on and around the SUNY Oneonta campus.

While at school, I am involved in the Student Fashion Society holding an E-board position as set designer. We are currently getting ready to put on our spring fashion show. I am so excited to make my ideas come to life and see all those awesome Fashionista/os strut down the runway. I am also working at the mall in Oneonta at Maurices. I could not love my job any more than I do. I have taken on the responsibility of being in charge of the store’s social media and helping put together outfits and ideas to share with our costumers.

In addition to fashion and music, I also naturally enjoy shopping and discovering new ways to do hair and makeup. I love any opportunity I get to do hair and makeup for friends and family. Whether it’s for a date, a fancy dinner, or even prom, I’m your girl. I love seeing the moment a person’s face brightens with a huge smile when they see my work. I have a knack for bringing out the confidence and inner beauty in those that I work with.

As far as my style goes, I have always had a hard time putting a label on it. What I wear definitely depends on my mood, and I have pieces that could be from numerous style categories. I range from sporty, to grunge, to preppy to boho. I’m not confined to one particular style.

I chose to show off my new faux sherpa fur coat from Maurices. This coat is incredibly warm for the cold winter days and the light shade helps brighten up the gloomy days. The maroon fedora from Forever 21 pairs nicely with the light pink coat. I chose to go with simple ripped blue skinny jeans from American Eagle Outfitters since the fur coat is a head turner. The long layered necklace is also from American Eagle Outfitters. Finally for the shoes I kept things simple with black-heeled booties from Kohl’s.

I am really looking forward to capturing the looks of great Fashionista/os and their spring styles, and working with all the wonderful people associated with CollegeFashionista.
