Hi! My name is Paige Tillinghast and this is my first time being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I couldn’t be more excited to expand both my love of writing and of fashion. This year, I’ll be a senior at Southern Connecticut State University, studying English Literature in the hopes of becoming a professor. I’ve always been a creative person, but getting the chance to dabble in the different forms of expressing oneself has helped me, personally, to grow in multiple ways.

While fashion isn’t the most important thing in my life, it certainly makes an impact and I feel as though it truly has an effect on a person’s attitude, mindset and outward reflection towards others. How you dress can boost not only your own confidence, but your successes as well.

My personal style varies somewhat in that I enjoy several different kinds of clothing. I love basic black anything because it matches perfectly with almost any accessory, especially my combat boots, which are a staple in my life. Flannels and comfy sweaters are essential during the fall and winter months, whereas dresses and loose tops are my favorite items in the spring and summer. Neutrals with little pops of color are common combinations, because I don’t like to stand out too too much.

As far as accessories go, I never leave the house without a cute pair of sterling silver earrings, as well as one or two rings. Scarves and shoes go a long way, as well, despite being smaller items like jewelry. Every piece adds to an ensemble, even if you’re the only one who notices the little details. I get a lot of my inspiration from some of my favorite stores such as American Eagle Outfitters, Free People and PacSun. But it’s always great to take tips from friends and those around you as well!

In this outfit, I’m wearing a simple dress piece from Target, jewelry that I’ve collected from relatives over the years and my favorite pair of Birkenstocks I got from Amazon. I can’t wait to see what kinds of fashion trends spread throughout my campus this semester!
