STYLE GURU BIO: Nina Folchi

Hey everyone, my name is Nina Folchi, and in case you don’t remember me this will be my second semester as a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista and I’m so excited to be back. I am majoring in strategic communications and I’m double minoring in fashion design and supply chain management at the best school in Oxford, Ohio, Miami University.

Although it’s bittersweet watching an amazing summer come to a close, saying goodbye to friends from home and to all the crazy adventures I had these past couple of months, I am also super excited to be saying hello to my junior year at Miami University, my friends from school and of course another RAD semester with all of you Fashionista/os

This summer I got to travel abroad to Europe, where I visited cities such as London, Paris, Dublin and Barcelona. I had the time of my life, and when I wasn’t eating gelato or my body weight in carbs, I was admiring the elegance that is embodied in European fashion, spending all of my money in the local shops and boutiques and keeping my friends and family updated about my shenanigans through a travel blog.

I was expecting the saying “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” to apply in the same sort of way to my adventures abroad, but quickly found out that this was definitely not the case; meaning I brought back 25 new items of clothing and my luggage was .2 kilograms under the weight limit at the airport…oops.

I loved the Europeans’ style and was happy to be seeing new trends and staple pieces that I can try out back at home. Some of my favorite fashion trends were sneakers paired with dressed up outfits and Fjallraven Kanken Backpacks.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, shopping is my favorite hobby—I say hobby, but actually think it should be some kind of a sport. I love being able to express myself through the things I wear, and I also love trying out new styles and looks. My favorite color is black, and there’s nothing I love more than a bright colored lipstick.

I decided to wear this all-black outfit because I like the chicness of it being simple yet dressy. I’m wearing my favorite new black choker, my proudest bargain romper from T.J.Maxx and my pair of black lace-up heels from LuLu’s, which are my more-affordable version of the oh-so beautiful Jeffrey Campbell’s.  This outfit would be perfect for a night out on the weekend or for any special occasion.

I can’t wait to see what this semester has in store with you all. Let’s make it RAD!
