STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Winshel

Hello friends and fellow Fashionistas! My name is Emily Winshel. I am a junior communications studies student at Temple University in Philadelphia. I love all things digital and techy (yes, I’m a social media junkie), exploring the city and I’m a self proclaimed food critic. Oh, and, of course, I love fashion but that’s a given at this point.

When it comes to fashion, I definitely don’t have a distinct style. I love delicate details and lace but also like edgy pieces—my leather patched moto jeans are one of my favorite pairs. One thing that is a given when it comes to my style is color. Anyone who knows me or has previously followed my articles knows that my wardrobe consists of black, gray, white and some more black. These are my three favorite clothing colors and ninety percent of the time I’m wearing them. I do like to sneak a little bit of color into my ensembles though, through accessories like jewelry or bags.

This fall season I’m most excited to pull out my favorite skinny jeans and, of course, wear all the new ones in this season’s trendy colors like maroon and green that I’ve been so patiently waiting to cut the tags off of. Fall is all about neutral colors, which are great, because they’re easy to mix, match and accessorize. Another trend I’m loving right now is backpack purses. I am no doubt one of those girls that carries the world with her in her purse (ask my boyfriend who hates holding it for me!), so what’s better than a little backpack to tote around all your must-haves? No, I’m not talking about a  clunky, multi-pocket book bag, I’m talking about cute, little, one or two pocket backpacks that come in pretty designs and fabrics. If you’re like me and carry everything you could possibly need in any type of emergency situation, even when you’re just doing a Target run, you should definitely jump on the backpack purse bandwagon. In addition to skinny jeans, neutral colors and backpack purses, this season is the season of scarves, legwarmers and boots—so make sure your closet is stocked!

Anyway, I am very excited to be writing with CollegeFashionista for my fourth semester. So far, my experience has been only positive—I love photos and fashion so this is the perfect way for me to express myself. I have also become friends with the other Style Gurus on my college campus and I have CollegeFashionista to thank for that! I hope you enjoy my articles and style tips and that you all have a successful, fun and fashionable semester!
