STYLE GURU BIO: Dana Dworkin

Hey there, fellow Fashionistas! I am beyond thrilled to be writing my first article for CollegeFashionista. My name is Dana and I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. From the very first time I visited Boston, I knew that it was bound to be my city. Being a dog lover and an animal shelter volunteer, I figured it was only destiny that my dream school, Northeastern, has a husky as a mascot. I am a Marketing major, and I intend to minor in Graphic Design. I am itching to get out and see all of the campus street style fashion that Boston has to offer.

For my STYLE GURU BIO, I wanted to feature pieces that tell stories. I always feel elated when a friend compliments something I am wearing, and I am able to tell them the story of where the piece came from. My family has been traveling for as long as I can remember, and I have been blessed to visit some of the most beautiful and fashionable places in the world. My black, amber and silver beaded necklace was purchased in a Moroccan souk. Whenever I wear this necklace, I am immediately taken back to the smells, sounds and overwhelming emotions of the traditional street market. I found my shoes in a small shop full of handmade leather products on the island of Santorini. Inspired by the Greek god Nike, these sandals are the most unique accessory I have ever owned. My purple stone ring and gold watch were 16th birthday gifts from my father, and my mixed metal floral ring once belonged to my grandmother. My plaid shirt was thrifted. While I often pride myself on owning pieces that no one else does, I will let all my fellow Fashionistas in on my secrets and link you to similar items!

As cliché as it may sound, I live, eat and breathe fashion. I have spent my summers trying to absorb as much fashion as possible, from interning at an international fashion distributor in London, to taking a three week crash course on fashion design communications at Parsons. All my friends and family are tired of hearing about the constant rotation of designers, models and runway shows that runs through my head, so CollegeFashionista is an amazing outlet for me to share my ideas. I look forward to an amazing semester full of fashion!
