STYLE GURU BIO: Christina Amaral

Hey there! I’m Christina. This semester I will be starting my sophomore year at the University of Mary Washington. This will be my first semester as a Style Guru and I am so excited to write about the fashion at UMW.

I feel like everyone has their own unique take on style.  Whether they follow the trends or not, there is always something that sets each person apart. With the rise of the internet and different forms of social media, I feel like fashion is so much more obtainable. It is easy to share your style with the world, down to the items of clothing that you are wearing so that they can take inspiration from  your look. I often find myself looking at pictures or watching videos of people who have dramatically different taste in clothing than I do because I find it so interesting to see how different people style different items to make the pieces work for them.

This outfit is a little out of my comfort zone because I have only recently have gotten into wearing looser shift dresses. I really love this dress because the material is thicker and it’s a black based pattern, which means I will be able to easily transition it from summer to fall if I add some tights and switch out the sandals for booties. This dress is definitely going to become a staple for when I want to look a little dressed up for an event on campus, but still feel comfortable.

For accessories, I’ve been into keeping it fairly simple and wearing mostly dainty silver necklaces, which I feel is a nice juxtaposition to the darker colors in the dress. I am also wearing my favorite cross-body bag. I love the oil slick hardware on it. It adds a little pop while still being neutral.

I hope that you enjoyed this little peek at my style and that you will come back and read more about my style and about what others wear on campus!
