STYLE GURU BIO: Candace Sanders

September 1st, 2015 at 2:00am

Hello everyone! My name is Candace Sanders and I am a freshman VCD major at Kent State University. For those of you who do not know what VCD is, it stands for Visual Communication Design or in other words, Graphic Design. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, but I long to move out of state, or even out of the country!

Over the years, my style has evolved and shaped itself as I’ve grown. I remember going through phases where I would wear nothing but camouflage and knee-high socks with sneakers. Though that isn’t a combination I would wear now, having free reign at a young age and being able to express myself creatively through my clothes is still a belief I carry to this day. For this reason, I cannot define my style, and instead choose to translate my moods and feelings into what I clothe my body with.

I am so excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista! As a photographer, writer, and street style aficionado, this internship combines three of my loves into one awesome experience. I cannot wait to interact and learn more about my fellow fashionistas/os.

Did I mention that I love to thrift? My passion for thrifting comes from a long line of grandmothers and aunts who took me thrifting at an early age and opened my eyes to the wonderful, unique experience thrifting brings. When I looked at this outfit I styled in the photos, it truly amazed me that it contains nothing from the thrift store since thrifted clothes make up 95 percent of my closet. If you’re interested in copying my look, you can find similar overalls here, gold dangly earrings here and a rose gold watch here.

As I share outfits from the various styles I spot on campus, as well as my own, I hope you’ll join me for the ride!
