STYLE GURU BIO: Caitlin Glemser

Iris Apfel once said, “Fashion you can buy, but style you possess. The key to style is learning who you are… there’s no how-to road map to style. It’s about self-expression and, above all, attitude.”

Hi Fashionistas! My name is Caitlin Glemser, and I am a freshman at Drexel University. I’m a double major in marketing and business management, and I am so excited that I have been accepted into this incredible internship for the upcoming semester.

My love for fashion began when I was a little girl. I would change my outfits countless times every day, and my mom would get so frustrated when I made my way into her closet. My favorite thing to wear was a pair of neon pink heart-shaped glasses, with both lenses popped out. In middle school and in the beginning of high school, though, I lost my sense of individuality and creativity when putting together outfits. I often wore what my friends were wearing and what I thought was popular. At the end of my sophomore year, I was hired at PacSun, a retail store in my local mall. In this new environment, I was encouraged to wear what I loved! Everyone had such a fun and unique style, and their confidence and courage empowered me to create outfits with pieces that I genuinely adored. I completely revamped my closet—trading the T-shirts with huge logos from the brand that everyone was wearing to special pieces that were delicately picked out.

My love for fashion and beauty grew even more when moving to Philadelphia. It has always been my dream to live in the city, and I truly believe that being surrounded by so much art, passion, and freedom has allowed me to open myself up to all the wonderful opportunities I know this city, my college, and this internship have to offer.

I wanted to include pictures of my favorite outfit from this season. My lace-up sweater and my black skinny jeans are everyday staples in my wardrobe. Styling it with vibrant burgundy booties made it unique and pulled the whole outfit together.
