Hey there! My name is Allison Schnathmann and this is my second semester as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru! I’m so excited to continue to express my obsession with fashion through my passion for writing for the second time around. I am a junior studying retail merchandising and product development at Florida State University, and I could not love my major or my school more than I already do.
As I grow older, I see my style continually changing in ways that I don’t expect it to. If you look at my first Style Guru bio from last August, you can already see the difference. I used to be very into using basics and staple pieces as my main wardrobe, but as my taste has changed I’ve found myself using my favorite jeans and well-loved shirts in a trendier way. I feel more confident to try certain outfits that I normally wouldn’t even consider, and I have come to appreciate fashion even more because of this.
In this look, I have incorporated all of my favorite trends from the end of 2016 and moving into the new year. Off-the-shoulder tops, denim skirts, over the knee boots, and chokers have been well-loved by college-aged girls for the past year, and I am no stranger to these pieces. This sweater from The Shore Brand is one of my favorite off-the-shoulder tops that I own because it’s so soft and can literally be paired with anything. Double buckle belts are my latest obsession and this one ties my whole outfit together. Lastly, I paired my favorite over-the-knee boots with my outfit as well because they’re super edgy, surprisingly comfortable, and help create the trendy yet casual look that I was going for.
