STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Mixing of Seasons

If you’re anything like me, you’re READY for the fall season. The leaves are changing colors, pumpkin spice lattes are back and most importantly, it’s time for fall fashion! Say goodbye to flip flops, rompers and shorts, and say hello to jackets, scarves and boots. I will be the first one to raise my hand and say that I’m ready for all that comes with the autumn chill.

However, seasons don’t just drastically change from one to the other—it’s a process. And in that process comes an odd “in-between” season, where at some points it’s hot and at some points it’s chilly. And while some of us may be ready to pull out the scarves at the sight of a single leaf falling, it may not be quite time to put away the summer dresses yet. I know that while I love looking trendy and stylish, comfort is also key—I don’t want to be shivering, and I don’t want to be sweating either!

What I propose is an in-between-the-seasons look. This Fashionista has pulled it off perfectly. The main piece in this outfit is the navy overalls dress—something that most of us would consider to be a “summer” piece, except that the material is corduroy. She paired this dress with a light, long sleeve crop top, leaving room in the dress so she didn’t get too toasty. To top off the look, she went with white Vans as her choice of footwear, which is more of a summer style, but perfect for a nice fall day walking around in the city of Boston. She also chose simple jewelry, including a white watch and two long simple silver necklaces.

This outfit is a perfect example of taking in trends from both seasons and making it work with the weather! Comfortable yet classy, that’s the key!
