STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keep It Cool

October 1st, 2015 at 2:00am

School is about two weeks in, you’ve already exhausted your arsenal of “dress-to-impress” outfits and no longer have an hour available to you every night to assemble your look for the next day. That is without factoring the increasingly more prominent feelings of passivity for spending more than a few hours on putting an outfit together (it happens to the best of us). What’s a stellar Fashionista to do?

This week’s Fashionista demonstrates the essence of effortless coolness that we all yearn for. Confident and carefree, she put together an outfit of few elements that exudes not only style, but personality—think chill vibes, palm trees, spunk and perpetual summer.

For a look that’s California ready she chooses a bright and sunny set of Teva sandals, AKA the most essential cool-girl footwear. Bright pastel shorts paired with a striped T-shirt allow for a fun look, but the black and white give off a more mature high-fashion vibe than (for example) a bright colored tank top would.

A simple tote bag works for carrying the essentials while not overloading the look with an unnecessary attention grabber. In this case, the shirt, shorts and sandals speak a sufficient amount on their own. Keeping the accessories to a minimum, she opts for an elegant silver ring that for us, served as a conversation piece.

What’s even better about this outfit? It’s easy to interchange the main top and bottom pieces to suit Kent’s forever inconsistent weather and remain relevant. You can: A. switch out the shorts for your favorite pair of jeans. B. Switch the top for a long sleeve top. C. Layer either a hoodie or kimono, depending on your taste. No matter what you do, you can be assured that nothing will be out of place, as the staples this Fashionista is wearing pair easily with most things in anyone’s closet.

So go ahead: stress a little less, be wise in your fashion choices and you can emanate your inner RAD chick on any day!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?: “I would have to say to just wear what you are comfortable in! Today, fashion is so multifaceted that it is so easy to find clothes you love and can always rely on. Having go-to pieces in your wardrobe is the best and easiest way to build outfits every day that you’ll always feel good in.”
