STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: How to Layer for Fall

October 6th, 2016 at 2:00am

That time of the year we all know and love is finally arriving! The pumpkin spice lattes are back in full force and the apples are ready to be picked. I know you’re ready for all these fall festivities, but are your outfits?

Layering is the best way to dress for fall because the weather is constantly changing. I love to start my look with a basic T-shirt in a neutral color. This is great to have underneath in case you need to take some layers off.

Flannels or jackets are great second layers that add warmth, but also style. Light jackets that resemble a vest with a sweatshirt underneath are staples for your fall wardrobe. They add the look of an additional layer and bring your whole outfit together. Tying a flannel around your waist always gives your look a fashionable flare. They are definitely a fall essential, plus you will always have a layer to take on or off.

Jeans are a major staple for fall. Dark denim wash jeans can dress up a layered outfit. If you want a more casual look, try pairing your tops with light to medium wash distressed denim jeans. Denim is a major staple for fall fashion. It not only matches everything, but it’s perfect for the fall weather that most of the country experiences.

Booties are a major fall must-have. They are flawless for the season because they are the start of transitioning your outfits into the colder weather months. They are not too tall and not too short! They look perfect with denim jeans, especially if you cuff them at the bottom! Another option is white sneakers. They are so easy to pair with any outfit and they are great pieces that make an outfit casual. Plus, they are comfortable, which is good for all those pumpkin patch and apple orchard trips you are going to be taking!

I hope these tips were inspiring to you as you start preparing for the upcoming season. Happy fall!
