STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Basically Fabulous

November 5th, 2015 at 2:00am

Good basics elevate an outfit like nothing else. It can been tempting to buy a cheap white T-shirt from Forever 21, but this Fashionista swears by her basics. Basics don’t have to be boring. For example, a white button-up blouse is an essential in any ladies’ wardrobe, but yours can have a lace collar or a scalloped hem. Try to find yourself quality basic pieces that speak to your own unique sense of style.

Let’s take a look at this fabulous halter tank top. It’s a Free People tank top that comes in a wide range of colors. It’s affordable, soft (yes, I did touch this Fashionista’s top) and ever so flattering. The mock neckline is super on trend right now, and this cut has been featured in several fall 2015 collections. Not to mention it’s the perfect solution to fickle fall weather. Thin knit mock turtlenecks feel perfectly collegiate and can be worn so many ways. Paired with her jeans and sweater, it’s an effortless look for class; the necklace adds just the right amount of interest, and her suede cutout heels are to die for. Imagine this tank top with leather leggings and a red lip, and you’ve got a great night out look, or with a colorful pencil skirt and this Fashionista would be ready for brunch. This piece is ever so versatile.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “A lot of my basics I’ve inherited from my sisters. Try to take inspiration from other styles; check stores you wouldn’t normally shop in, and always hit the sale rack!”
