FASHION FROM ABROAD: Gucci Leather Lace-Ups

April 1st, 2016 at 2:00am

Florence is a historic city filled with art, fashion and culture, all condensed into a small, intimate area. This makes it the perfect place to dive into fashion unique to Italy. During my time abroad, I’ve been paying attention to the looks that are popular here for men and women. As you’re walking down the narrow cobblestone streets of Florence, a trend that you can’t miss on Florentine men is classic black dress shoes.

This Fashionisto wears Gucci leather lace-ups with a dark outfit. In the winter, Florentines are all wearing different shades of dark clothing, but as the days get warmer, they will break out the colors. Gucci is very unique to Italy. Italians are very loyal to companies that make and produce things in their country. People value the fact that they are shopping locally to a trustworthy, durable brand more than they value a more inexpensive brand from a different country. This Fashionisto pairs his Italian shoes with a Zara fabric rrench coat and skinny jeans to keep warm in the winter months while staying fashionable. To find the perfect accessories for your outfit in Florence, there are so many markets around every corner to explore to find the perfect fit.

Captured: These photos were taken in Florence, Italy in one of the most historical areas of the city: Loggia dei Lanzi. The Loggia dei Lanzi, built with wide arches to display sculptures of antique renaissance art, is an open-air gallery. The city itself is an open-air gallery. The Loggia dei Lanzi holds sculptures of famous characters such as Perseus, Medusa, Hercules and Jupiter. My favorite part of this area is that all of the statues are originals, some dating back thousands of years ago.
