BEAUTY BAR: Fresh Flowin

May 5th, 2016 at 2:10am

These perfect natural curls, this Fashionista states, is no easy task to maintain. As many curly headed Fashionistas/os may agree, finding that “holy grail product” which won’t flatten or frizz out those curls is a tedious task. This Fashionisto found the best way to get his fresh flow is to switch out his regular routine of shampoo and conditioner with a cleansing conditioner.

Shampoo usually strips away all of the grease and oil from our hair, thus we use conditioner to replenish some of that oil that our hair needs to be healthy. However, this method does not work for everyone. Sometimes the traditional cleansing method can strip away too much of our hair’s natural oils which starts a chain reaction of producing more oil to replace what was stripped away, leading to an unnecessary amount of grease. Cleansing conditioners will clean our hair but is much gentler and will keep some natural oil, which produces healthier hair and bouncy curls.

While long hair on guys isn’t typically common, there’s nothing hotter than a guy who can rock a good flow. This Fashionisto informed me how, besides high school (where it was too strict to handle the fresh cut), his hair has been long all of his life, from a fro-ish do when he was in pre-school to even some rad dreads in elementary school, this Fashionisto’s hair has seen it all.

This Fashionisto rocks his natural curls with a worn and comfy look. To accommodate the changing spring weather he layers a comfy neutral sweater with a classic Levi Brand jean jacket. The green pants and sturdy boots completes the earthy look by making it versatile for all terrains this Fashionisto may embark on during his summer adventures.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To get this healthy, curly look, try a cleansing conditioner such as the Wen Restorative Cleansing Conditioner or a leave in conditioner such as Taliah Waajid’s Curly Curl Cream.
