ALL IN THE DETAILS: To Infinity And Beijing

A recent trip to China allowed me to be in tune with fashion on the other side of the world, and this Fashionista (and new friend!) caught my eye! A loose, sturdy jean jacket and burnt orange tights with tan corduroys are not typically what one might envision to make for a girly ensemble, but she put her own twist on it to make it a cute, fun look.

During a visit with some students from one of China’s most prestigious universities, Peking University, I spent some time with this Fashionista who shared with me her love for fashion, hunting for the coolest clothes out there and caffeine, as this photo was snapped on the way to an underground coffee shop!

The weather in Beijing is very similar to the spring weather of the Midwest, ranging anywhere from 40-60 degrees depending on the day. The most effective way to combat the varying temperatures is to put a few light layers on, easy to quickly shed and throw back on. The statement piece of her outfit is her scarf, its huge size putting to shame all of the infinity scarves I’ve seen around our campus. While the neutral color maintains the low-key vibe of the outfit, a subtle dash of speckled color is incorporated into the scarf to jazz it up.

With the heavy layering among her outfit, this Fashionista tied her hair up into an easy top knot to avoid adding a distraction to her look. With a lack of patterns, she was able to fuse several colors together without making the look too loud and finished with a simplistic pair of shoes to round it out.

How To: Looking to get out of your boring scarf routine? An oversized infinity scarf will put you back on the fashion map; this Fashionista’s petite size proves that anyone can rock the look!
