ALL IN THE DETAILS: Tie It All Together

As winter comes to an end, it’s time to break out your favorite comfy sweaters one last time before tucking them away to make room for your spring wardrobe. Oversize knit sweaters, which require zero effort to throw on and match with either a pair of jeans or leggings, have been my favorite this past winter. My go-to class outfit this semester has pretty much been comfy sweaters and leggings, and I always see a ton of other Fashionistas with the same mindset on campus.

One of my favorite trends that I’ve seen lately around campus has been this lace-up detailing that’s been added to practically everything. I’ve seen it on T-shirts, casual tops, and of course, sweaters, which is what caught my eye about this simple look I captured. This muted olive green lace-up sweater even just looks super comfortable, and trust me, it feels it too. This Fashionista purchased this comfy knit from a small boutique in New York, and I was actually pretty upset it wasn’t a Forever 21 staple that I could run out and grab for myself. Because the sweater is super warm, just a simple black vest was needed to complete the look. I think the vest works well for this outfit because the focus is still on the sweater and not a heavy winter coat.

And of course, another trend I always see around campus, knee-high boots, had to be incorporated into this look. This Fashionista’s pair actually happen to be the same ones I own (and featured in my Style Guru Bio), and the lace-up detailing on the back complement the sweater perfectly. Knee-high boots have been everywhere around University of Delaware this winter, and I love how they’re so simple but can make such a statement. Because this Fashionista decided to wear simple, non-detailed jeans, the higher boots were the best option to dress this look up a bit.

One of my favorite things about fashion is small details on otherwise classic pieces—ties, buttons, and even height in terms of shoes can really add something extra to those everyday basics. This look is definitely more casual and simplistic, but with lace-up details and a pair of your favorite sunglasses, you can’t go wrong with this outfit for those final winter days.
