ALL IN THE DETAILS: Shades of Glam

March 27th, 2017 at 2:00am

Spring is approaching us, and after months of being bundled up in winter coats, scarves, and gloves, it is nice to finally see some cute outfits around campus again! Transitioning into spring can be tricky because the temperatures are often still chilly. Fortunately, this Fashionista provides some insight on dressing for these early spring days while still maintaining our sense of style. She sticks with basic pieces and expresses her style in a unique way through the use of various accessories and details.

This Fashionista creates an effortless and chic ensemble with just three simple pieces. She pairs a light sweater with a leather skirt and over-the-knee boots. Each individual item pairs perfectly together and contributes to the overall stylish look. I particularly love the contrast between the black, shiny leather skirt and the light gray, soft sweater. Additionally, the over-the-knee boots are nicely coupled with the miniskirt to show just the right amount of skin. By keeping the colors neutral, she is able to play around with different types of accessories.

At first glance, you would not notice all of the subtle details that are incorporated into this look. This Fashionista carries a stylish black satchel, a staple item that works for any season of the year. Sunglasses are a must on a sunny spring day. A pair of leopard-printed shades incorporate print detail to the look and are totally on-trend right now. Last, but certainly not least, is the jewelry. Bangles, a watch, a thin chained necklace, and gorgeous floral earrings embellish this look and take it from basic to glam!

We can take inspiration from this Fashionista as we transition into spring or any time that we want to “glam up” our look. With just three basic pieces and the addition of subtle accessories, she creates an ensemble ready for whatever the day has in store. This look is perfect for an early spring day when the temperatures are just starting to warm up. If you have an early class when the temperature is not yet at its peak, throw on a denim jacket for some extra warmth (and style) and always remember to wear accessories because sometimes the best aspects of a look are all in the details!
