ALL IN THE DETAILS: New Year Old Jacket

Winter is finally here in Akron, Ohio and the trendiest thing is to dress warm. Just because you must add a few more layers to your outfit does not mean that we have to look like Randy Parker from A Christmas Story. One of the trends from Schiaparelli S/S 16 show was embroidery. From couture to DIY, a year later and this trend is still popping up everywhere.

This Fashionista has showed us how to wear something that might be super trendy to the most casual of events, such as going to class, a game or any other school activity. She received this gorgeous embroidered silk jacket as a gift from a friend. As soon as I saw it, I immediately fell in love. She wears this jacket with a simple pair of skinny jeans and a fitted green top. The dark color of the jacket pops and draws your attention. Maroon is one of my favorite colors to wear during these winter months and this jacket proves why. This color not only makes an outfit pop but it is also flattering to most people.

The embroidery consists of a large floral motif on her right shoulder. It has Kelly green and various shades of pink creating the flower design. The colors in the embroidery give you multiple options for coordinating. To accessorize, she wears her Coach bag and a pair of her trusted Hunter rain booties. The boots are a necessity in the snowy/ rainy weather in Akron but also make this look something that she can wear out and about as this Fashionista takes on a heavy course load and/or enjoys an event on campus. This Fashionista is stopped multiple times whenever she wears this look by people looking for tips on how to duplicate it.

Embroidery is an easy way to make any outfit your own and different. It’s a small detail that makes a bold statement.
