ALL IN THE DETAILS: Make A Statement

There’s an unspoken rule in the fashion world: you only wear one statement piece at a time. It’s good advice in a sense that if you want to show off one item, you should make it the focus of your look. However, some rules are meant to be broken, and this is one of them. If you think that you’re an expert on mixing patterns and colors up, by all means, go for it. Sometimes, the result can be surprisingly wonderful. Embrace your eccentricity, and showcase it.

This Fashionisto is the perfect example of mix-and-match done right. The circular shapes on his kimono echoes those on his crop top, while his denim shorts go with his pale blue leggings. He also chooses a thin electric blue belt, which is exactly the same color as his sneakers. Coincidence? I don’t think so. This killer detail brings out his look and sophisticated fashion instinct.

How he uses lighter colors is simply genius: lavender, gray, pale blue and baby pink form a mild yet fascinating palette. The color scheme is appealing, which allows him to play with different colors without coming off as too intense. I like how he uses exclusively blue from the waist down to create cohesion, and pinkish colors for his baseball cap and top to hint at his warm personality. With this outfit, you can go to Y-3’s fashion show and still be the attention on the front row.

How To: Throw in a lot of colors and patterns. Wear a kimono, a crop top, denim shorts and leggings. Top it off with a baseball cap, and then accessorize. Essentially, do whatever you like.
