ALL IN THE DETAILS: Influence of Blair Waldorf’s Preppy Style

From 2007 to 2012, Gossip Girl, graced our televisions and our hearts. The unforgettable style of Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen inspired our very own wardrobes. Personally, I had more in common with Blair’s preppy style rather than Serena’s glamorous boho.

Minus Blair’s iconic headband, I found a Fashionista that embraced the classy style of Blair. This Fashionista wore a baby blue oxford shirt and a light gray sweater to keep her warm against the winter days in Napa, California. It was her printed, navy blue skort that caught my eye. The beauty of skorts is that it is the combination of comfort and fashion. A skort is a pair of shorts cleverly hidden behind fabric panels that creates the illusion of a skirt. Underneath her skort she wore black pantyhose that elongated her long legs. Her feet were tucked away in her white slip-on shoes. The shoes lightened up the bottom half of her outfit creating a light, welcoming appearance to her otherwise dark skort and pantyhose.

The preppy style reveals to people that they are studious, but have not forgone their appearance. This style shows people that they are not only brainy, but have a classy taste in clothing. This Fashionista and Blair know that they could bump into an influential person at any time and aim to catch their attention.

As a busy student, I relate to Blair and this Fashionista’s style because it is comfortable enough to sit for hours in class and the library. In addition, it shows my professor that I take my education seriously. Like Blair, I believe that I too can run my own company.
