ALL IN THE DETAILS: Flirting With Floral

Spring trends can usually be boiled down to three things: florals, pastels or some combination of the two. If you are anything like me, the idea of colorful florals and pretty pastels is very appealing, but your closet is full of neutral tones and colors which makes it difficult to be as colorful as you wish to be. This leaves you with two options: spend all of your money on buying a colorful, spring wardrobe (this will probably be heavily considered) or find one or two floral pieces in neutral tones that can work with the rest of your clothes.

Take a note from this Fashionista. While most of her outfit is black, she wore a pair of floral, chiffon shorts that have wonderful pops of ivory and orange that draw in the eye and lighten up the look. Her floral shorts and the crochet detail of her top do a very good job of giving the dominant color of black a lighter feel. Neutral florals are becoming more and more popular every time spring rolls around. You can now find it in everything from shorts to dresses to jackets to shoes.

How To: Find a floral piece that has mostly neutral tones with pops of color in the pattern, like a jacket. Jackets are one of the easiest pieces to wear as a statement because you can dress it up or down. For everyday wear, simply pair it with your favorite V-neck and skinny jeans. Add some wedges and a leather shoulder bag and you are good to go!
