ALL IN THE DETAILS: Channeling Tradition In A New Trend

April 10th, 2015 at 2:00am

A white sailboat skating on a cobalt sea, a pair of Sperry Top-Siders on a sunny lake day and the American dream; it is impossible to envision these images without the presence of our favorite color duo, navy blue and white. It is a classic color combination that we never get tired of. I mean, why do you think we love Ralph Lauren so much? It is a timeless staple that we are drawn to without even realizing it half the time.

While it is common to see navy blue and white stripes, navy blue and white anchor prints and sailor-inspired navy blue and white attire, it is refreshing when we see our favorite nautical color combo in a different light.

This Fashionista broke from the norm seamlessly with her printed navy blue and white joggers, which she paired with a minimalist white T-shirt and a nude gladiator sandal. Mixing prints is a hot trend, but it is not always appropriate and it can easily become overwhelming. I appreciated how she allowed the print to speak for itself by keeping her other pieces neutral. Although her sandals are simple, they are anything but boring. The strappy construction of the sandals added a bit of a Mediterranean vibe to the look that was refreshing.

All in all, the look was effortlessly chic and perfect for the spring climate. I loved the blue stripe that went down the side of the pant and the simplicity of the print, proving that small prints can make big statements.

How To: Looking for a new way to wear navy blue and white this spring? Take a note from this Fashionista and try a printed jogger pant. With this garment, you will not have to sacrifice style or comfort. Even if it is a bit out of your comfort zone, pairing the pants with a crisp T-shirt and a neutral sandal will give you a perfect campus look.
