STYLE GURU STYLE: Gold All In My Chain

Jewelry trends are always interesting to watch change throughout the seasons, switching from gold to silver. From chains to embroidery, gold is rocking the fashion world, seen on icons such as Ellie Goulding and Kayne West. Recently, the Balmain spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection played with said chains, embellishments and laces, all in ranges of gold and metallic. A soft elegance, Balmain’s line gives off an airy light feel, playing with peplums and lattice designs.

Recently, I have taken this inspiration and ran with it. Pairing countless blouses with my chunky gold chain necklace, I had the perfect statement piece to complement my outfits. Currently my favorite top I own, a thrifted denim short-sleeved button-up that cost only two dollars is cute and cheap! Denim is currently trending, especially for tops, and I love the comfortable feel of chambray. Instinctively, I styled my outfit in an edgier manner, pairing my button-up with a pair of Timberlands and my go-to black pants. For jewelry, I picked up a lapis and silver ring from my local consignment store, which matched my blue nails perfectly. My Micheal Kors white and gold watch accents the gold chain necklace, and hiding under, you can see my little tattoo; a paper crane.

This spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection by Balmain inspired me to try on some gold accents this spring. From the ever popular gold chains, to studs, embellishments and embroidery, gold is sweeping the fashion world, providing the perfect touch of metallic in any outfit. If you find your own outfit lackluster, Fashionistas, I suggest adding a little touch of gold.

Get My Look: 1. Denim, short-sleeved button-up. 2. Chunky gold chain necklace. 3. Timberlands.
