STYLE GURU BIO: Meghan Emanuel

Hi Fashionistas/os! I’m Meghan Emanuel, a sophomore economics major at SUNY Geneseo. Since I was young, I have viewed fashion as an amazing form of art. It is not only a way to express your inner self, but also as a way to make a statement. My personal style involves a lot of simple, yet classic pieces with a touch of trendy flair. My style is also constantly evolving. I am not afraid to experiment with pieces that may be out of my comfort zone.

Going to SUNY Geneseo has really helped me become more confident in my sense of style. Being exposed to an increased amount of diversity has opened my eyes to many things I never even knew existed. This has inspired me to experiment with different colors, textures and patterns. Every day walking to class there are new trends being set by students across the campus. However, being in a small college town has its downfalls in the world of fashion. Since, there are a lot less runway trends being showcased in day to day campus life. While some larger schools lean more toward runway trends and high fashion, my college town generally sticks to the basics. In my opinion, sticking to basic pieces and using items such as bold shoes or a statement necklace can completely transform your look.

My time in college so far has influenced my fashion sense in many ways. It has helped encourage me to pursue my own individual sense of style and to shy away from following the crowd at times. It has also allowed me to feel comfortable about expressing myself in whatever way I see fit.
