ALL IN THE DETAILS: Suede Tooth

Crazy weather keeps on going in Mexico City. We have been having these crazy hurricane-like windy days with trees falling down, rain, etc. People around campus have been wearing rain boots and raincoats like it’s the official university uniform. Thankfully, some days by noon the sun makes a much-appreciated appearance and everyone starts peeling off layers and showing their true colors. But, how do you balance the fact that you are leaving winter behind and welcoming spring? Color palette and fabric choices are the way to own the transition.

I ran into this Fashionisto in-between classes and I spotted a detail in his outfit that made me turn my head and look twice: the tan, suede jacket. Suede was major last year and it is still going strong in 2016. There are many reasons why it has been so popular. First of all: who doesn’t love a retro, ‘70s vibe? Additionally, suede is extremely versatile: it can be worn with whatever combination of colors you want. From vivid red, yellow and green or even pastels, to more basic and somber tones like black and gray, which I prefer. Plus, it looks great paired with other textures like denim or silk. Finally, it works for both winter and spring, and it is the perfect fabric for transitional weather outfits.

I think a lot of guys in college make this Fashionisto’s uniform-like outfit choice: jeans, T-shirt and sneakers. But this suede jacket is the perfect detail to make this otherwise super simple look stand out.

How To: Follow his steps and grab your perfectly worn-out jeans in the morning, your favorite T-shirt, a pair of sneakers and throw on a great suede jacket to complement your look. Best part? It works perfectly for both Fashionistas and Fashionistos.
