STYLE GURU STYLE: Bandanas Aren't Boring

At J.W. Andersonโ€™s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, he experimented with different shapes in an avant-garde, experimental way. The collection itself is filled with multiple different styles of clothing with one thing in common: itโ€™s desirable. Sure, the collection is not of the expected, โ€œcommonโ€ way to wear the pieces, but what is really โ€œcommonโ€ these days anyway? J.W. Anderson took classic pieces, like the A-line dress or the track suit, and completely rethought them into pieces that look perfect at any posh rave or electronic concert. For me, I took the most inspiration from the neck scarves. Chokers are major in street style right now, but silk scarves worn as chokers are even better.

Sadly, I donโ€™t own any silk scarves (but that is my next investment for sure), but I do own a plethora of bandanas just waiting to be worn. I styled mine subtly by wearing two gold necklaces under it. One was a vintage choker, and the other was a regular length necklace. This created a subtle, chic texture that stood out from the rest of my outfit.

Like any other Fashionista, my favorite color is black. I purposely kept the rest of my outfit black because I wanted the bandana and the necklaces to stand out, and I gave way for a different shape of the outfit after I added the jean jacket. This gave me a โ€™70s cowgirl vibe.

The J.W. Anderson collection inspired me to think outside of the box and experiment with the clothes I already own. Now, every time I look into my closet I donโ€™t just see my tried-and-true outfits, I see experiments and new outfits to try. Fashion is art, itโ€™s creativity. Use it to your advantage and you never know what you will come up with.

Get My Look: 1. A bandana. 2. A classic jean jacket. 3. A striped button-up. 4. Black booties.
