STYLE GURU STYLE: Fur Real?

One of my favorite things about fall fashion is having the option to layer different prints and textures. I love playing with garments that incorporate elements such as: leather, plaid, suede, fur, knits, denim, florals, etc. The list goes on and on. When it comes to experimenting with different looks, I like to start with my staple pieces then mix and match from there. For this look, I took inspiration from Fendi’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I combined materials such as leather and fur. I also stuck to a dark, neutral color scheme, which was common in Fendi’s collection.

It’s no secret that a fur vest (faux, of course) is a huge trend on the market this season. I’m obsessed with soft, warm materials so, when I saw this vest I knew I had to have it. I also like that this vest has a simple line pattern running through it. This makes it more exciting to pair with a solid sweater or mix with other patterns like I did. When it comes to mixing patterns, it’s important to keep in mind to pair small design-printed garments with a large design-printed garments. Keep one pattern simple and the other one more complex. Also try to stick with a coordinating color scheme. By doing this, your outfit will be cohesive, visually appealing and not too overwhelming.

My outfit includes black, biker-inspired pants from Express paired with a floral printed top from Free People. Black booties were an easy addition to my outfit as they are extremely popular this season. I also accessorized with gold jewelry, and a swipe of MAC lipstick in a dark, fall shade. Finally, I threw on a fur vest to tie everything together.
