STYLE GURU BIO: Marla Currens

Hello Fashionista/os! My name is Marla Currens. I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, studying Marketing. I am currently the secretary of the Fashion Business Association at Pitt and a member of the American Marketing Association. I am excited to start my semester writing for CollegeFashionista.

Outside of the classroom and studying you can find me doing a wide range of things. I love to listen to music and dance around my room. I always tell everyone if you need to find me at a party, I will be the one dancing and singing along. You can also find me on Pinterest looking up new quotes to decorate my room with and pinning outfits to wear. I just wish when I pinned them they appeared in my closet. I also love spending time with my friends and going shopping, of course. Another thing I love to do is paint my nails because an outfit isn’t complete unless your nails are done.

I like to be myself with what I wear. Growing up my family always encouraged me to be comfortable in my own skin. Of course like most teens in middle school and high school. I followed the trends to fit in. I have always been very simple with my clothes. Once in college though, I got a job working for American Eagle Outfitters. I like to think this helped my sense of style a lot. I get to work with some awesome people who help me step out of my comfort zone with clothes and find a style all my own. I now get to help customers find theirs because I am a certified AEO stylist.

This fall you can be sure to find me wearing my Converse, some AEO jeans, a shift dress and of course the color black. Some accessories you will see me wearing are the diamond bar necklace my dad made, my infinity ring, a Lokai bracelet and earrings.

Going to school in the city. there is always something going on. There are tons of different styles to be seen. I can’t wait to show you all the fashionable students I see on campus every day. I hope I can help you step out of your comfort zone to try a new style this fall.
