STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Moser

With the return of school this week, it’s time for all of us Fashionistas to start showing our campuses what were all about in terms of style. Whether you dress to the nines or prefer to roam campus on a laid back kind of style, looking your best has been and always will be important for the first few weeks of classes. As I enter my sophomore year as a Fashion Merchandising major and my second semester as a Style Guru, I am excited to document the styles of the other Fashionistas around me in my favorite season.

It’s already feeling like fall here at Kent State with cool weather and cloudy skies. This is my favorite season because you can just keep layering clothes and hoodies become an acceptable form of clothing again. Keeping things comfortable is priority to me, but in such a competitive school, I’ve quickly learned how to make casual look its best, and how to take a risk with my style while still maintaining my own personality in the way I dress. With such a busy schedule, it is imperative that I am comfortable in what I am wearing and feeling confident in my style. This is the very reason I chose fashion for a career; because it is truly fun for me to see how people cultivate a style so different from mine while still trying to stay comfortable, confident and true to their personality as well.

From Rachel Zoe to Tom Ford, or Zuhair Murad to Moschino, so many designers inspire me everyday. Ultimately, I hope to be a stylist because I can’t think of a better way to spend my life than playing dress-up with people where I can channel both the designers that influence me and the personalities of those I am dressing. I myself have no particular style; I prefer to play with edge, modernity and silhouettes. Today I was inspired by atheleisure streeetwear, and I chose a bold printed sweatshirt, adidas Superstars and a Lacoste carry-all bag. Tomorrow I may dress in a more classic look. Either way, versatility in style is what makes fashion fun, and I am so excited to bring Kent State’s fashion diversity to you.
