WHAT TO WEAR: Fall

November 26th, 2015 at 2:10am

As I’m sure you’ve all realized by now, autumn is upon us, with some campuses’ temperatures already plummeting toward winter. Here at University of the Pacific in Northern California, brisk breezes define the season alongside warm, but elusive sunlight. With the weather quickly cooling, it’s easy to seek sack-like sweatshirts, plain Jane jeans and those aptly named shapeless sheepskin boots—you know, the ones that make you want to utter their brand name in derision. But don’t give up hope yet, dear fashionable friends, and definitely don’t fall into that seasonal rut! Take a page out of this Fashionista’s book and read on to learn how to stay chic yet snug in this capricious climate.

By starting with minimalist layers, this style savvy student creates the ideal base for her eye-catching ensemble. A simple gray T-shirt and a pair of skinny black ponte pants ensure comfort and mobility, whether she’s crossing campus or convening in the classroom. A lightweight camel-colored scarf adds another easily adjustable element, while the fringe adds some fluid fun. Of course, the pièce de résistance is this Fashionista’s boldly patterned shawl, which straddles the line between form and function in the best way possible. Plus, what could be more seasonally appropriate than stalwart leather boots? Her black knee-high pair polishes off her look quite nicely, adding another layer of flair to this versatile ensemble. Her intricate henna, matte aubergine manicure and silver midi rings are the perfect finishing touches to this fabulous fall outfit.

Take note, fellow fashion lovers: fluid layers, rich leather and varying textures and colors are your ticket to exemplifying the intersection between snuggly and soigné as we slip into the bitterer seasons.

One Simple Change: Take this look from fall-friendly to date night ready by swapping out those ponte pants for a sleek pair of structured leather leggings.
