STYLE GURU STYLE: Winter Cream and Back to Black

September has begun, and with that brings fall weather and fashion. As we approach another season of falling leaves and classes, its time to get up to date on what to wear.

Ralph Lauren’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear runway show featured winter cream, a trend also seen in the Mulberry and Peter Pilotto shows. These winter creams are detailed with embroidery, fringe and lace, providing a great transition color into winter months.

Black on black was another huge trend seen in the Vera Wang and Alexander Wang fall 2015 shows. It’s a slimming look and easy to pull off. Although Anna Wintour may not like the all-black look, it hasn’t stopped designers and celebrities from wearing the trend.

Fall is a difficult season; the weather is just starting to get cold enough for pants and sweaters but our hearts and minds are still in summer. If you are anything like me and like to hold on to the summer as much as possible, you can incorporate a huge spring/summer 2015 trend: the silk scarf. You can use it as a headscarf, necktie, or bracelet. It’s a great addition to any outfit. When it comes to clothes, I like to choose lighter layers to add less bulk to an outfit. So, adding a comfy T-Shirt underneath a sweater is the perfect option. Black pants are my go-to. Not only are they slimming, but they direct the attention to your top.

Try finding a sweater that is winter white with a subtle pattern to it. It will give your look the texture seen on the runways. As for shoes, Mary Jane pumps are always a great option. They are comfortable for walking around all day while adding a little pep to your step.

Get My Look: 1. Start with a cream sweater. 2. Throw on your favorite black pants. 3. Any T-shirt. 4. Finish off the look with patent leather Mary Janes.
