STYLE GURU STYLE: Wanna Be My Boyfriend

The boyfriend jean has circulated runway shows for years; however, it isn’t until now that they seem so accessible. They are currently the most practical and versatile style of jeans in the market and can be seen sported by style icons such as Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung. I found my inspiration in the J.Crew spring 2015 ready-to-wear show. In look 24, the model is rocking cuffed, light wash boyfriend jeans with a white button-down. To complete the outfit, sunglasses and heels were added.

The other looks included in J.Crew’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear show displayed the same level of sophistication. This collection played on masculinity and simplicity as J.Crew usually does; however, the shapes of the silhouette made this collection stand out. The silhouette I was inspired from played on menswear. Instead of cinching at the waist, as most feminine attire does, this look was straight up and down. I tried to imitate this in my look.

I replicated the J.Crew look by wearing a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans that I cuffed at the ankles. I paired this with a white blouse that features a lace bandeau underneath. Bandeaus are the perfect undergarments for summertime. For accessories, I’m sporting a floppy hat, which I believe pulls the outfit together. I also threw on my favorite kate spade purse to carry all of my necessities for the day. Compared to the J.Crew collection, my take on the boyfriend trend was much more casual. Instead of wearing heels, I opted for sandals that looks just as cute but is much more comfortable for walking around campus.

Get My Look: 1. Boyfriend jeans. 2. Button-down. 3. Hat. 4. Sandals.
