STYLE GURU STYLE: Too Cute To Boot

Fall weather is in full effect in Chicago right now. As every college student knows, you can never go wrong with a thick scarf to keep warm walking to class. A light, long, black jacket goes with anything. I love to incorporate classic pieces into my wardrobe because they never go out of style.

My look was inspired by Balmain’s Fall 2016 ready-to-wear fashion show. His collection showcased a neutral color story consisting of beige, black and white, as well as a lot of suede, fitted dresses and, of course, over-the-knee boots.

I am in love with the suede fall trend. I’m wearing a beige, suede, bodycon dress that is very figure flattering. This dress works well as a foundation piece for layering/accessory options because of its simple silhouette and smooth texture. I layered this dress over sheer black tights. This black, light, fall jacket will go with everything in your closet because it is a classic. It keeps this look polished and sophisticated while keeping me warm. For accessories, I am wearing gold hoop earrings and a delicate gold and black necklace. What I like most about the scarf I paired with this look is the hounds-tooth print. This is my favorite print since it is timeless and makes a comeback every fall/winter. Last but not least is my new-found obsession with over-the-knee boots. These black, suede boots elevate any look into one that is fall and runway ready.

My style always consists of a mix of trendy and classic garments. This makes it so easy to switch up my look based on current trends. Having classic staples in my wardrobe work as great foundations for newer pieces. This also allows me to stay consistent and true to myself while taking into account the ever-changing fashion world.
