STYLE GURU STYLE: Timeless Classic

One of the most classic color combinations is black and white. Black and white outfits can be dressy, girly and casual. Junya Watanabe’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear Collection incorporated a lot of these black and while color combinations. This collection was filled with tons of structured pieces and some of the pieces you could wear straight from the runway and out onto the street.

Additionally, the collection offered pieces for someone looking for a more edgy style.  The collection began with button-up tops with knee length skirts. The looks then transformed into more of an edgy style of clothing with 3D patterned shirts, jackets and dresses. No matter what your style may be, you will be able to take away some kind of inspiration from this collection of black and white classics and learn how to make dress pants and a button-up shirt look edgy.

I applied Watanabe’s collection to my own personal style by making the classic style more feminine and casual. I wore a white button-up blouse which tied in the front. I unbuttoned the cuffs and rolled them up to my elbows for more casual look. My button-up blouse was also more flowy than the blouses in Watanabe’s collection, which contributed to my casual look. The back of the blouse has a lace cut out which offers a more girly look. I paired the blouse with a high-waisted, black pleated skirt. The skirt continues to follow the theme of a more casual look with pockets included for comfort. I also wore a pair of black booties and a lace bow in my hair to complete my black, white and girly look.
