STYLE GURU STYLE: Tickled Pink

October is finally here, and I know what you’re thinking: chunky scarves, oversized sweaters, boots, flannels and felt hats accessorized with rosy cheeks and pumpkin spice-flavored beverages. However, there is one more exciting staple to add to your list: Alexander McQueen’s pre-fall 2015 runway look! It celebrates a particular color that commemorates October as Breast Cancer Awareness month—PINK!

Pink is more than just ballerina tutus and bubble gum hues. It is a color to raise awareness about an extremely important fight against breast cancer. Additionally, it is soft and sophisticated, which is why McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton chose it for one of her pre-fall runway looks. The classic trench coat style is sleek and elegant, yet unexpected for fall.

I have adapted the high-collared, Elizabethan look to fit my girly and sometimes edgy style by adding graphic prints and dark colors. On top, I am wearing a V-neck Junk Food “Noir” graphic T-shirt. My pleated, black leather skirt is among one of my favorite staples in my closet. The dark colors create a New York-friendly look, without being too harsh due to the lighter, happy tones of the trench coat. In addition, the pleated skirt adds some preppy flare. I am ready to take the look from day to night by switching my gray tights with black tights, and by letting my hair down.

Get My Look: 1. A classic trench coat 2. Pointed-toe flats 3. Milk Carton Bag.
