STYLE GURU STYLE: The Closet Essentials

If your style habits are anything similar to mine, they include always going after the same pieces over and over again. When setting out to buy something I am in need of, I will most likely leave with a pair of shoes that add to my overly excessive collection, after convincing myself that I have fallen in love and need them. Seriously, if I buy one more pair of black booties I will have to put myself on shopping probation. With that said, there are a few closet staples that I always rely on when creating the perfectly unique outfit. These essentials are: funky pants, a fun jacket and statement shoes (of course).

With this look, I wanted to use my closet essentials to create a current look for fall. My most current piece in this look is the culotte jeans. The shape of these pants makes them stand out and the released hem adds a vintage touch. I paired the jeans with a knee-high suede platform boot. These shoes add the statement aspect that I always seek out by bringing a ’70s vibe into play. I decided to re-wear my favorite leather jacket with fringe detail. A leather jacket is so re-wearable and can be thrown together with over 100 different outfits. The fringe adds some movement to this look to make it street ready! I added a vintage T-shirt that I scored at a thrift store years ago to make this look more edgy.

I love this look because it incorporates all of the different aspects of my style. I love so many different trends that it is hard to directly pinpoint my style into a specific category. Thus, this outfit shows the multiple sides of my style preferences by incorporating some glam while staying edgy. I like to take risks with my style and add a random piece that will make my look stand out. For me, it is all about wearing what I personally love regardless of what the rest of the world has to say! My advice for you is to stay risky, color outside the lines and remember to have fun with it!
