STYLE GURU STYLE: Stay In The Loop

Let’s be honest. We all want to dress like we’re casually strolling down the streets of New York or London in the latest trends. Am I right? The resort 2016 MaxMara runway show during London Fashion Week took our dreams and brought them to life. With inspiration coming from a great combination of a British designer and recent move to New York, MaxMara flaunted its versatility and edginess. The opening section of the show was filled with bold looks of all-black, pinstripe jumpsuits and trousers, statement belts around the waist and excellent tailoring. The different tones of black layered with pinstripes, belts and coats added depth and excitement to the looks that came down the runway. Leave it to MaxMara to be one of the top trending shows of Fashion Week 2015.

Taking inspiration from resort show, I translated the dark color scheme with a belted waist into my everyday look. To keep in line with my personal style, I decided to sport a black dress instead of pinstripes. Black is a staple color in my wardrobe and it also matched the effortlessly cool vibes from the runway show. Throughout the show, waist belts were worn by almost every model, so I continued that trend by looping my favorite belt around my waist, which complemented the tailored style of MaxMara. The double buckled belt spiced the look up since I didn’t sport daring pinstripes. I then decided to wear my over-the-knee boots to keep in line with the brand’s chic image and in honor of fall. Now if only I had London’s skyline as my backdrop…

Get My Look: A killer black dress. A bold waist belt. A timeless pair of boots.
