STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Denim

As I’ve always been a sucker for anything reminiscent of the ’70s, it was no surprise that I found myself swooning over Stella McCartney’s spring 2015 collection. Even though ’70s-inspired pieces seemed to storm almost all of the runways at fashion week, I loved Stella McCartney’s ladylike take on the trend. Rather than featuring the expected fringe or knee-high gladiator sandals, this collection seemed to celebrate luxe femininity instead. With countless floaty maxi dresses and oversized jumpsuits, it was a little difficult to select my ultimate look until I laid eyes on this one. Part androgynous, part Jane Birkin, there’s something so timeless about this look that I can’t seem to get over!

For this reason, I attempted to put my own South Texas spin on the floor-length denim jumpsuit featured in Stella McCartney’s spring collection. As spring and summer weather in my neck of the woods means intense heat, I opted for a shorter jumpsuit instead. In order to preserve the carefree ’70s vibes from the collection, I opted for a streamlined look with minimal accessories. Rather than choosing a more fitted jumpsuit, I went with a more relaxed fit that’s perfect for the hot summer days that lie ahead.

To finish my look off, I took a few nods from the minimalistic footwear featured in the collection and opted for a pair of lace-up gladiator sandals. Since I’m a big fan of chic simplicity, you’ll definitely find me emulating Stella McCartney’s impeccable collection for the rest of the season.
