STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Coats

Within the last few seasons, there has been a massive influx of coats and jackets. Cropped jackets or knee-length trench coats have been seen throughout this season’s shows. One of my favorite labels that never fails to impress is Céline. Céline has done a really great job in perfecting the “oversized” look. The show transitioned smoothly from monochromatic color schemes to patterned dresses and oversized spring coats in the spring 2015 ready-to-wear show. I really like an oversized garment on the female form. If you style an oversized coat or dress with simple accessories, it comes across put together, not too sexy and effortlessly chic.

I decided to channel a look from the Céline show. I am wearing a cream, mid-length knitted jacket. The basic coloring of the coat adds to the minimalistic attitude that I was aiming for with this look. The boxy silhouette of the jacket detracts from the feminine form, but the length of the coat shows just enough of the leg to be cute and playful. I wanted to keep the whole outfit simple so that I don’t distract from the main piece: the coat. I added a pair of black pumps and a stylish black watch to finish my outfit.

The Céline show proves that it is okay to wear something that has an oversized profile. The result isn’t unflattering. It’s stylish and makes the whole outfit seem effortless. Pair it with black shorts and a soft T-shirt and you’re set!

Get My Look: 1. An oversized spring jacket. 2. A simple pair of pumps. 3. A watch that is far from boring and adds the perfect touch to your outfit.
